    Man guilty in forged-papers case
    BY JANICE MORSE | JMORSE@ENQUIRER.COM

A Butler County illegal immigrant – whose documents say he may be from either El Salvador or Mexico – has been convicted of three forgery charges and faces deportation, officials said today.

Jose Yanez – whose age investigators couldn’t determine because of fraudulent documents -- was found guilty by Common Pleas Judge Noah Powers.

After receiving complaints that a Trenton business was employing immigrants who had bogus documents, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office investigated. On Nov. 15, investigators discovered Yanez in possession of two fraudulent "green" cards (work permits), along with a fake Social Security card.

Officials, who didn’t disclose Yanez’s employer’s name, said the employer cooperated in the investigation.

Yanez is scheduled for sentencing April 10.
