Thread: Illegal immigrant found in duffel bag

An illegal immigrant was found hiding in a duffel bag in a sport-utility vehicle that was stopped early Friday at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, federal authorities said.

The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, a 47-year-old woman from Compton, was pulled over for secondary inspection about 1:30 a.m. by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer. The duffel bag was in the SUV’s cargo area.

The man stuffed inside was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and the bag was about half his size, officials said.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego. The illegal immigrant will be returned to Mexico when the criminal proceedings against the driver have concluded.

Reminds me of another story I read several years ago about an illegal from some South American country who attempted to come to the US illegally inside of a suitcase via a commercial airliner. He was discovered dead upon arrival. (boohoohoo)
