Illegal immigrant gets federal jail time

Albany – A Mexican national, who reentered the country after being removed as an illegal alien, was sentenced in federal court to two months in prison followed by one year of supervised release.

Roy Arroyo-Arriola, 31, pleaded guilty in July to the charge of reentry of a removed alien. He was arrested by New Paltz Police officers in Ulster County.

He had been removed from the US at Brownsville, Texas on June 6, 2000.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Ulster, New York and the New Paltz, New York Police Department.
