Illegal immigrant indicted on 8 rape charges

March 18, 2011 7:32 AMNORTH HAMPTON — An illegal immigrant who allegedly raped a homeless woman at a North Hampton motel on Christmas Eve was indicted this week by a Rockingham Superior Court grand jury.

Karoly Ujfalusi, 43, of 53 Lafayette Road Apt. 2, North Hampton, was indicted on eight counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and three counts of simple assault.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt or innocence, it just means the grand jury found enough evidence to warrant a trial in the mater.

The indictments come on the heels of Ujfalusi waiving a probable cause hearing at Hampton District Court on Jan. 19.

North Hampton police arrested Ujfalusi on Dec. 26 on one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault. Authorities added subsequent counts through the indictment process, court records show.

Authorities allege he befriended a homeless woman at a Greenland truck stop, drove her to the Slumber Manor Motel and raped her.

According to a police affidavit, a separate man told police he saw the alleged victim sitting on a sidewalk at a gas station on Christmas Eve, learned she was homeless and drove her to the Stone Gable Motel, where he paid for her to stay for the evening.
