A Mexican citizen who was staying in Sciota has pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine and illegally re-entering the U.S., federal authorities said.

Roberto Vazquez, 33, admitted he possessed with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine in October 2009 and that he illegally re-entered the U.S. after being deported. The plea agreement, if accepted by the court, calls for Vazquez to be sentenced to eight years in prison.

Charges against Vazquez resulted from an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Homeland Security, state police and the Monroe County Drug Task Force.
