Illegal immigrant set to be deported

Five years of invisibility came to an end for Gerson Nahum Melendez-Rodriguez when he stepped off a Greyhound bus in downtown Fargo 18 days ago.

That was the day the 25-year-old Honduran laborer was spotted by U.S. Border Patrol agents during routine checks at the bus depot.

The agents asked for Melendez-Rodriquez’s papers. He handed them over.

The false immigration document was crude, bought for $80 from a forger in Atlanta, where Melendez-Rodriguez had spent much of the past five years, working as an illegal alien.

Suspicious, the agents checked the number on the registration card; it belonged to someone else.

In an appearance Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo, Melendez-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to possession of false immigration papers, a felony.

Before accepting his plea, the judge asked why he came to the United States.

It should have been set up so that if he returns to the United States, he has a 10 year prison term waiting for him if he is caught.

Melendez-Rodriguez, who has an elementary school education and speaks no English,
So, although he was living here for 5 years, he never learned to speak a word of English. But geniuses like Jorge Bush and Whorealdo Revolta say they all assimilate perfectly into American society.

Oh well, that's 1 down, 19,999,999 left to go.

Good job but does deportation only apply to illegals from other countries and not Mexico?

He had $603 on him. How many Americans besides drug dealers carry that kind of cash on them. I think they should make him use the $503 he has left to pay for his ticket back home and if anything is left the government should take it. It actually is the proceed of crime as he was illegally in the country and had fake ID. There's a plan let's us that law as well. It could help fund hiring more Border Patrol and ICE Agents if the law was used against illegals. The construction workers in one area of Miami carry $2,000 on them. If they had a raid where they pick them up and bus them to construction jobs they could easily get over $50,000.
Then alot of illegals in South Florida own houses or condos. If those properties were taken and sold there would be even more money. Another option would be to use them for affordable housing for Americans who otherwise were uuable to afford them.
