Just weeks ago, Department of Homeland Security Secretary
Michael Chertoff vowed to fight any legal challenges to DHS
immigration enforcement efforts. But facing lawsuits by the
ACLU and other open-borders groups, DHS has backed down on its
employer verification program, which would have forced
employers to rectify mismatched social security numbers or face
harsh penalties.

And we’ll report on Maryland’s policy of giving drivers
licenses to people in the country illegally—based on a 2003
attorney general’s decision saying that a driver’s inability to
prove their legal presence in the country is not reason to deny
them a license
