Illegal immigrants killed in wreck

Three people believed to be illegal immigrants were killed when the van they were riding in was hit from behind, then slammed into a tree.

State police say the van was carrying 18 people on Interstate-12 near Lacombe.

Investigators believe 47-year-old Glen Richard of Crowley fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended them.

Richard is charged with three counts of negligent homicide, three counts of negligent injuring and careless operation.
