Thread: Illegal Immigrants Receive Right To Driver's Licences in D.C.

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Illegal immigrants in our nation's capitol received the green light for a driver's license as Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray signed the bill Monday afternoon.

Starting next year, D.C. drivers who cannot prove their immigration status will still be able to get a drivers license.

In Staunton for a luncheon with local business leaders today, Rep. Bob Goodlatte called the plan a, quote, "bad idea."

"It's going to cause problems not just within Washington, D.C. but also in other states like Virginia that may have to give reciprocal privileges ,so when they come into Virginia they can drive in Virginia even though they're not lawfully present in the United States," said Goodlatte.

Licenses for immigrants who cannot prove their legal status would be marked as invalid for federal identification purposes.

Starting next year, people living in the nation's capital who don't have legal permission to reside in the United States will be able to get driver's licenses.

Democratic Mayor Vincent Gray signed a bill on Monday that would allow the District of Columbia's Department of Motor Vehicles to issue licenses to people who can't prove their immigration status. It would take effect May 1 unless Congress intervenes, which isn't considered likely.

The bill would create a two-tiered system of licenses in order to comply with federal law. The licenses for immigrants who can't prove their legal status would be marked as invalid for federal purposes.

The district will join 10 states that have granted licenses to people living in the country illegally.

After spending the last three weeks in five Western states, I now come to the conclusion that amnesty and merging with Mexico have both already occurred.

It is like the government granting amnesty and merging with Mexico and asking forgiveness instead of asking permission.

Mexico and the (former) United States have already merged.

This is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE! It doesn't say much for the rule of law when our CAPITAL CITY issues driver's license to people WHO PURPOSELY BREAK OUR LAWS!
