Temple Black, a public affairs officer with the Immigration & Customs Enforcement division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in New Orleans, said his agency normally takes its arrest tips from local law enforcement and not from apartment managers and members of the public. He did not rule out investigating such claims, but neither did he commit to descending on Lakeview Apartments seeking illegal immigrants.
Notice they take their tips from local law enforcment and not from 'apartment managers and members of the public'.
That says a lot, doesn't it? Are our calls just ignored? I have always feared they were.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

First of all, how could there be no legal standing behind the landlord's claims? Usually in every lease there is a clause which allows landlords the ability to evict tennants because of illegal activity. Well being here illegally IS illegal activity so I think it's justified.

I would think so - but then he hasn't faced the ACLU on this.
But did you notice the ICE official stating they didn't normally pay attention to tips from apartment owners or the public?

Many leases have clauses about how being a lawbreaker can affect your residency rights. My son had a deferred felony and once he found a place that would rent to him, had to sign a lease stating that if he got into any more trouble, he'd move out within 10 days. Also, both specifying and ascertaining the true occupancy of a unit is within the rights of a landlord as long as the landlord doesn't conflict with local occupancy ordinances - extra people can be ordered out, and the tenancy can be affected by letting undesireables in. Illegal aliens are by definition lawbreakers, so there should be something landlords can legally do.

Yes, the landlord seems to be within his rights - and the city should help him enforce safety codes.
The fact is, our government, the employers of illegals, the illegals, and the pro illegal crowd - thinks our laws are non-existant.
They think our laws are only to curtail us - to use against us - not anything they need be concerned about.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

The Apartments are evidently haveing problems with over crowding and people living there that are not suppose to be there, besides the illegals he rented to They probably have 4 family's living in one apartment and extra cars parked all over the place. I would think they should have something in the contract that says no one can live in the apartment that is not listed on the lease, if not I bet it will from now on!!

If ICE does not take our tips seriously then they need to say so on their web site.Otherwise they are intentionally misleading us which is against the law.
