Earlier this year, many locations in Phoenix were used for the filming of Aztlán 3D, an independent film to be released by Chicanos de La Raza films. It is about a future in which Latinos take over America and White people are a minority. Manuel Peña gives a fascinating performance as the leader of the Aztlánians.

At first, the film was in financial trouble. However, several politicians such as Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton donated to the film, so much that it was able to be filmed using the 3D fusion system made popular in Avatar 3D. Aztlán 3D will open up nationwide on May 5, 2012—yes, that’s Cinco de Mayo.

Manuel Longoria of Nuestros Reconquistos says this film is Oscar bound. “Aztlán 3D is a lot like Avatar, only better. Latinos have been waiting to see a film like this for over 150 years.â€

A local Phoenix poll of Latinos, sponsored by civil rights groups Chicanos Unidos Arizona and Take Back Aztlán, reveals that Eva Longoria is the celebrity that best represents Latinos. In fact, she leads the way with 28 percent of the voters. Coming in at 19 percent is George Lopez. Jennifer Lopez comes in third with 15 percent and Pitbull (the rapper) along with actress Michelle Rodriguez tie at 13 percent.

[b]“Eva Longoria is going to be our first female and first Latina president,â€

Excellent question NM! I would like to know what they intend to do with more land when they cannot manage what they have. I suspect our land is attractive because they think it comes with a smorgasbord of government benefits.

    .
Phoenix Latinos began celebrating in front of City Hall this afternoon when it was revealed that California had passed the DREAM Act, allowing millions of dollars for financial aid and scholarships to children of undocumented immigrants in California. Many protested that Arizona do the same thing.

“This is not a victory yet for Latinos in Phoenix and the rest of Arizona,â€

Latinos want Latino performer for Super Bowl instead of Madonna
By Miguel Perez, Phoenix Civil Rights Examiner
    ..
The Latino Civil Rights meeting that took place at the Phoenix Public Library this morning talked about immigration, education, and—out of all things—the Super Bowl. It was announced this week that Madonna will probably play the Super Bowl Halftime Show and not everybody is pleased.

“Madonna is a great performer, but not the greatest they could have chosen,â€

    .
Latino groups met at the Phoenix Public Library this morning to discuss how Latinos could use technology to advance themselves. Many arrived to show off their new iPhone 4S phones. The distinguishing factor between the new iPhone and other phones is an English-speaking assistant by the name of Siri, who even gives relationship advice.

“Apple would be wise to come up with a Spanish-speaking assistant with the same capabilities. Instead of Siri, they could call her Suarez,â€
