These guys have been unemployed since because no one will hire them, and they said the day labor places in the area had become so jam packed that the chances of being picked for work were so slim it wasn't worth the gas to even bother going. They also reported that while the crowds were getting bigger, the number of employers looking for workers had dropped way off.
One guy even told us that he'd gone to pick up his final paycheck from the masonry company he'd been working for and "never saw so many white guys on a jobsite in my life. They were all over the place". So much for "jobs Americans won't do", huh?
Now remember, this was before the announcement of the crackdowns last week so this would seem to indicate that, once there was no amnesty, employers at least suspected something was coming, and, the smart ones anyway, started jettisoning the illegals.
With the crackdowns now officially announced, start looking to see more of your neighbors leaving for work, coming home, and commencing their unemployment!!!
It may take awhile as they try to hang on, but look for them to begin leaving your neighborhood too. That's what's happening here with For Sale signs and yard sales popping up all over the place like Dandelions!!!!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Great ovservations, azwreath. Thanks for sharing them with us. Keep your eyes open and your ear to the ground and keep us posted. Hopefully, we'll see the scene you describe throughout the country if this enforcement initiative really is more than just a political snow job. One can only hope.

A real estate friend told me last week 3 houses owned by a hispanic man that was used to house illegals have now been abandoned and repossed by the mortgage company.
I am not sure why though since building has slowed here.It is possible they moved to other areas."A Government big enough to give you everything you want,is strong enough to take everything you have"* Thomas Jefferson

You will see default mortgages and also the repo man repossing cars. I have seen two repo man take away cars this weekend. I am sure that the illegal crackdown is responsible for the stock crunch. Bush did not do this economy a favor. I think the illegals were here to fund the war. I could be wrong but that is what it is looking like.
Today Rove exited the White House.

If someone is out of work, I notice it. They're having trouble with the rent, they see me. They're planning on selling their home, they have to see me. If they want to have a sale to liquidate furniture, etc., they need to see me for permission to do it. And every last contact comes with information as to what is going on. Additionally, we get plenty of info from the legal immigrants who live here too
I'll be glad to pass on what I see and hear is going on. We all should do that
