CBP Officers in California Nab 28 Fugitives in One Week
San Diego, CA. April 07, 2008 — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers conducting border security operations apprehended 28 fugitives with outstanding warrants over the last seven days at the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports of entry, CBP officials announced today. All 28 subjects were wanted on local, state, or federal felony warrants and were apprehended from Sunday, March 30 through Saturday, April 5.
Apprehensions included a North Hollywood man wanted by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department on police obstruction charges with a bail amount of $1.9 million; a Fillmore man wanted for sex with a minor out of San Francisco, Calif.; and an Orange County man also wanted for sex with a minor.

Officers apprehended others wanted for various violations such as assault, burglary, counterfeiting, sexual assault, weapons offenses, forgery, and parole/probation violations.

Nearly 87 percent of the wanted fugitives were U.S. citizens.

"Clearly, this is a great example of the role CBP plays in protecting the American public by enforcing laws at our nation’s border," said Port Director Oscar Preciado, who oversees passenger operations at the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa border facilities.
