An undocumented immigrant arrested and sent back to Mexico two months ago during a large-scale raid in San Antonio was arrested again Friday after having crossed back into the United States.
Daniel Hernández López, 37, was arrested Friday morning at his San Antonio home and charged with illegal entry, said Jerry Robinette, second in command of investigations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Antonio.
Hernández faces a maximum prison sentence of six months.
He was one of 27 undocumented workers rounded up April 19 at IFCO Systems, a Houston-based crate and pallet construction company that was the subject of a yearlong ICE investigation that netted nearly 1,200 immigrants in more than 40 plants across the country.
Robinette said Hernández's arrest was the only one Friday, but the agency is aware that several other undocumented workers escaped the raid.
The agency is still after them, he said, but, should they turn themselves in, they could be offered a break as potential witnesses in the ongoing investigation, provided they have clean criminal records.
Hernández's girlfriend, who did not want her name used because of her undocumented status, said she knew it was a risk bringing him back to San Antonio, but he was ill in Mexico and had been doing better here.
She said agents surprised Hernández at around 7:30 a.m. when he went out to his car. He was barefoot and shirtless at the time, but agents let him get dressed before taking him away, she said.
"All our plans have gone down the drain now," she said. "I don't know what to think or do anymore."

Another free medical cost borne by American taxpayers.

It's that disconnect...that belief that whatever illegals WANT to do is ok.
Never mind the laws.

Hmmm, now why didn't the federal agents arrest the girlfriend too? Her interview and eyewitness account of the arrest proves she was there at the time - WHY WASN'T SHE DEPORTED WITH THE BOYFRIEND? Removing her with the boyfriend could have possibly prevented the boyfriend from coming back again. Now, with her still here - he'll be back after his short 6 month prison stay and deportations. By the way, what kind of lousy sentence is 6 months? That's not even enough time to accidently drop a bar of soap twice.
