Two Hispanic men called police to investigate allegations of harrassment, but that is a mere afterthought as the officers become the focus of a new investigation.

An immigrant who said he was a victim of a racial slur said police did nothing to help him.

    Possible racial slur in Pasadena?
The man said he went to an auto parts store in Pasadena and walked in to exchange a fuel pump and things went downhill from there.

He said he walked up to the counter and asked to exchange the part, but was told that they would not exchange it because the customer had broken the part while it was in the store.

The man, who registered a complaint, said that at that point, a racial slur was yelled at him.

He wanted to talk to police, so he went into the parking lot. When police came by, they didn’t identify themselves, so the men wrote the squad number down.

The man contacted LULAC, which subsequently helped him file a complaint with the Pasadena Police Department.

“What makes it so terrible is the fact that for that split second, these individuals felt that the people who are there to protect and to serve them, weren’t doing their job,” said a police spokesperson, “What we’re trying to do is let them know that we do care and there is a process they can follow to make sure that these types of things don’t happen again.

Pasadena officials said its officers are required to identify themselves under certain circumstances.

LULAC said while the police are usually helpful, the group isn't sure what happened this time.

A department spokesman said they will identify the officers and release their names once the investigation is over. Any possible discipline will depend on the officer's history.

An immigrant? Are they talking about me? We are all a nation of immigrants, right?

I am a white American and have never uttered racial slurs on any ethnic group. Have I been a victim of racism?? Yes!

I remember sitting on a bench in the early 90's at Kean University here in New Jersey. Two men were speaking spanish. I did'nt pay attention but after five minute went by the one man asked why I was still sitting there next to them.

I immediately told him I had every right to sit here just as they did!

My answer stunned him and they left! In that same building I was hissed at by hispanic women going to class on serveral occassions.

Have I let this make me a racist to Hispanics? No. But I would like their community to know racism is not eclusive to hispanics or any other ethnic group. They have members of their communities guilty of harrassment and racism as well.

Absolutly! I've had them growl and flip me off. Then there was the post about a guy who went to get his hair cut and the new "latino" owners don't do "Gringos" hair. Alot of the kids even feel entitled to shove you aside. No "respect" for elders at all. Not to mention signs in Spanish only and things to cater just to "their" people.

I mean there are white people and black people and any color people that are just jerks. What color they are doesn't matter. But boy try and just say they are a rude jerk and your "racist".

    Hey crazybird,

That person should have sued the barber shop.

Imagine if a non-latino barber told hispanics they don't cut their hair! They would sue and make a real big uproar!

I regret not going to the Dean of the college in my case! I would not let it go by now that I am older.
