‘08 employer sanctions begin with more activism

‘08 employer sanctions begin with more activism

A new law requiring businesses to check the citizenship of employees went into effect on January 1st. Some residents aim to enforce a new law themselves.

Activist Barb Heller said “We are taking pictures of people’s license plates who are hiring illegals.â€

Meanwhile some say until then, they’ll be waiting with cameras rolling.

Be careful and stay safe. I would not doubt that the IA's might attack such cameramen.

Saw this on Channel 3 this morning which is the only station I've watched for the news in the 14 years I've been in AZ. They are outstanding!!

The best part was when the reporter was preparing to interview a protestor and started off by saying "And you are one of the anti-immigrant protestors out here this morning............"

The gentleman corrected her saying "First, let's get the description right ......it's anti-illegal immigration"

She apologized and corrected herself but that's Channel 3.......they are one of the few stations I've ever seen which will use "illegal" immigrant, alien, anti-illegal, etc. They call it like it is.

But, quite frankly, I was surprised to see the day labor center open......although I don't know why really. I guess I thought they'd have enough common sense to at least try to be a little sneaky about still being open.

I pray these sanctions will work, but these people know they are here and operating under the protection of the federal government. That's the long and short of it. They may leave AZ, but I don't think they are leaving the US.
