Immigrant-rights activists to stage rally at City Hall
8:03 AM | June 1, 2009
Immigrant-rights activists will stage a rally this morning in front of Los Angeles City Hall as part of a national campaign to call for legislative reforms that would give legal status to the country’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants.
Participants will gather at Our Lady Queen of Angeles Church at 11:30 a.m. and march to City Hall, where they will hold a news conference beginning at 12:15 p.m.
There will be representatives from the AFL-CIO, SEIU and UFCW labor unions, the Asian American Justice Center, the Center for American Progress, the Center for Community Change, the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Among those scheduled to speak are Angelica Salas of Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles; Eric Lee of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; and Rabbi Jonathan Klein of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice.
Today’s rally is one of dozens being held around the country. The Campaign to Reform Immigration for America is part of a united national effort that includes organizations representing labor, faith, education, business and the community at large.

NO AMNESTY
Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
