Agents find 23 illegal immigrants in secret flatbed compartment

TECATE, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered nearly two-dozen illegal immigrants hiding in a secret compartment attached to the underside of a flatbed truck Monday night in Tecate, Calif., according to reports.

Agents said they were searching for a group of suspected border violators in the area at the time, and followed footprints, which led them to the parked trailer.

Agents said they discovered a large steel compartment welded onto the trailer’s undercarriage. The 23 illegal aliens were found inside. They were arrested for deportation.

The driver was not at the scene at the time.

The investigation is continuing.
