Immigrants Found in Train

Federal agents find more than half a dozen immigrants hiding inside a northbound Union Pacific train.

The discovery was made Tuesday at train yard in Harlingen.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were searching the train Tuesday morning when a canine unit alerted them to an area behind the engineer cab.

Agents say the train compartment was sealed from the outside with pieces of wood and did not have ventilation and was extremely hot.

The Mexican Consulate’s Office in Brownsville was told of the rescue. All eight illegal immigrants voluntarily returned to Mexico.
