Increased educational and economic opportunity, comprehensive immigration reform, healthy and affordable housing, equal access to government benefits and services and the expansion of civil rights across our communities for immigrants, workers, students and gay people - this is what the people gathered at the Ganesh temple
THEY DONT ASK FOR MUCH, DO THEY?

ILLEGAL ALIENS dont derserve ANY GOVERNMENT BENEFITS! Or special housing, or ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY! Americans are having hard times getting decent jobs. What on earth would make illegal aliens think they should receive "increased" opportunities?

Illegal aliens need to be escorted to the border, because they are too stupid to find it on their own, AND KICKED OUT!

Yes, that's right. I would further recommend that the FIRST EDUCATIONAL LESSON WILL BE US IMMIGRATION LAWS.

The community's demands were nothing if not fair, and went a long way toward defining the priorities of immigrant New Yorkers.
The demands were nothing if not fair? The reporter and the newspaper are slipping into blatant editorializing and subtle attitude manipulation as they pretend to be reporting aren't they?

Apparently, the conditions they are whining about are still preferable to what they had before as nobody is holding them hostage and they are free to return to their place of origin. Although if they keep coming, the conditions may very well become the same. Somebody should tell Mr. Carreras that he is not entitled to a job at all, or even to be here; let alone a dignified job here. It almost sounds as if illegal immigrants are now demanding that Americans work the jobs that illegal immigrants don't want to do with the illegals being first in line for the "dignified" jobs. Instead of acquiescing to "yes, yes we can" maybe a blunt "no, no you can't" is warranted. Roads are usually two-way; don't let the toll gate hit you in the rear on the way out, Mr. Carreras -- not that I believe you would follow the law and pay the toll anyway.

Legal immigrants have to prove to the USCIS that they will not be a burden on society. This is a strict criteria that must be met before any approval for lawful immigration. Applicants do this by getting a US citizen to be their financial sponsor. The sponsor must complete Form I-864, Affidavit of Support. Sponsorship only ends when the immigrant becomes a citizen.

So obviously these people protesting are illegal. They are NOT suppose to be begging from the govt! They are in DIRECT VIOLATION OF OUR IMMIGRATION CODE.

I go this from the State Department site:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/ ... f3d6a1RCRD
Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act

To show that the applying immigrant has enough financial support to live without concern of becoming reliant on U.S. government welfare.

What about enforcing immigration laws and giving "dignity and fairness" to American citizens whose nation is being invaded!!??
If we do not insist on Voter ID, how can we stop illegals from voting?

I demand---

I demand that all illegal aliens leave my country---NOW. I demand that every elected official live up to his or her oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America. I demand rthat any and all caucuses of select groups such as the Black Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus of ELECTED OFFICIALS be declared unfair and unconstitutional, so long as they hold office. They can join when they are no longer in office. I DEMAND that those who violate their oath be impeached and recalled.
I only make these demands because the laws of our country and the oaths taken let all know what the responsibility of our elected officials is. Also, it happens , I am a legal citizen of this country. I am born of parents whose parents came here legally. If anyone has a right to make demands, it is any American citizen who can DEMAND that our officials and our businessmen support our country and our laws.
I know there are many here who are GW Bush fans. I am over him and have been for quite some time. He has no interest in the sovereignty of our country. He wants a single country on this continent and a new Constitution that supercedes the American Constitution.
Those who deny this have chosen to ignore the facts as they have been presented in many venues. The NAU is real. It will happen if we refuse to believe it. I may anger some when I say this, (not many, if any , on this site), but one's head has to be up to the shoulders in the sand to deny this and the plan to grant amnesty to the illegals as step one of the grand scheme.
A bas, GW!

amnesty defined

My 2 cents on the unfortunate confusion on "amnesty":

The true definition of only "forgiveness for past misdeeds", without any rewards or punishment, has been co-opted by apologists for illegal aliens in the current debate. That's why during a Republican debate Thompson was defining amnesty as "if you got to stay", and McCain said it wasn't amnesty because "you had to pay a fine". The audience ends up confused. Thompson should have correctly defined McCain's policy as rewarding illegal behavior, and avoided the word "amnesty."

By the dictionary, McCain was right. But his plan, like all "amnesty" proponents, is worse - it is a system of rewards, bribes, and enticements.

There is no crime, other than illegal entry to our country, for which apologists for the criminals propose that the convicted criminal is awarded the ill-gotten goods!

Would they suggest that a convicted burglar be awarded the stolen jewels at the trial, even with a fine? Would such a system 1) encourage 2) discourage future burglaries?

Moreover, McCain proposes retroactive solicited bribes. I see no difference between an invader bribing a BP agent to look the other way while he sneaks across the border, and McCain asking for $3000 after the invasion.

McCain is right. Hi plan is not amnesty, because his plan includes a 'fine'.

His plan is MUCH WORSE! He REWARDS the criminal with the ill-gotten goods (residency in our country) while actively soliciting a BRIBE of $3000 after-the-fact. And such a system of REWARDS and BRIBES serves as an ENTICEMENT to would-be border crossers - tempting them to risk a dangerous desert crossing, with rapes, murders, and thefts all too common.

We need to call "Shamnesty" what it is - REWARDS of the ill-gotten goods to the criminal.
