Immigrant Rights Demonstrators Clash At Protest
Pro- And Anti-Immigrant Rights Groups Meet At Consulate
(CBS) CHICAGO Two groups of protesters – both for and against immigrant rights – stepped out against each other Saturday on the Near West Side.
Members of various immigrant rights groups turned out at the Mexican consulate to protests another protest by two anti-immigration groups: the Chicago Minutemen and the Paul Revere Riders.
"We want to send the message to the foreign nationals that they have no business trying to influence our politicians in matters that pertain to the United States and United States sovereignty," said Rick Biesada with the Chicago Minutemen Project.
"I think their message, though they don't want to say it out loud, is that we don't want brown people here. And that's a problem," said immigrant rights activist Samantha Jordan.
