MO: Judge rejects Valley Park's illegal alien law
Judge rejects Valley Park's illegal alien law

A state judge today threw out Valley Park’s law penalizing landlords and businesses that rent and employ illegal aliens.
Last year, Valley Park passed an ordinance that fined landlords $500 or more for renting to illegal aliens and suspended the business licenses for five years of employers who hired them.
St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge Barbara Wallace ruled the ordinances conflicted with state landlord-tenant laws and that state law forbids a city of Valley Park’s size from levying such damaging penalties against businesses.
In recent months the city has repealed its original ordinances and enacted new ones that it hopes will pass legal muster.
It’s unclear how Wallace’s ruling will affect the new ordinances.
Valley Park City Attorney Eric Martin said he was still studying Wallace’s judgement to see if the city can enforce its new ordinances targeting illegal immigrants.
"I don’t know that we’ve made that determination yet," he said.

This is OK.
Valley Park saw this coming that is why they wrote a new ordinance before this one was thrown out. Valley Park is already for the next round.
