Immigration bill mandates could swamp agencies, experts say

A number of immigration experts are questioning whether federal agencies will be able to carry out the mandates of the sweeping immigration reform bill moving through Congress.
The bill as written would add an estimated 12 million new legal residents into the federal tax, visa, Social Security and immigration systems within 18 months. It also would further slow down the federal hiring process by requiring agencies to check the immigration statuses of all potential new hires.
