EDITORIAL: From Mexico, more complaints
EDITORIAL: From Mexico, more complaints
Memo to Mexico: The United States is not obligated to illegal immigrants.
MANY AMERICANS are not convinced a proposed immigration reform plan hatched between Congress and the White House is the right approach.
The plan is intended to bolster border security while providing a path for persons illegally in this country to achieve eventual legal status. Additionally, the proposal would accept guest workers under specific circumstances that are able to meet the needs of U.S. employers.
The program is still a long way from becoming law. Presumably, vigorous debate will take place and changes may occur. The good news is that the government seems serious this time about trying to find answers to the immigration problem.
BUT IN MEXICO, the verdict already appears to be in. The tentative American proposal has been harshly criticized by Mexican officials and media.
The complaints are numerous. The proposal may choke off immigration to the north. It does not allow enough guest workers to be admitted. It is too limiting for seasonal workers. It's skewed in favor of immigrants with specific talents and education, and away from low-skilled needy people. The path to legal status for those already here without permission is too hard.
Reporting from Mexico following last week's unveiling of the U.S. plan has been maddening, just a series of complaints, criticisms and protests. Apparently, there's a sense south of the border that the United States owes Mexico something.
NOTHING COULD BE more counter-productive to the immigrants' cause. Americans are a giving people, and America is an immigrant nation. This country has a big heart. Appeal to that heart and Americans can be softies.
But frame the argument as a demand and American hearts will harden. The United States has no obligations to illegal immigrants, from Mexico or anywhere else.
We've said it before: There are 12 million illegals in this country and it's in everyone's best interests to find reasonable solutions. But reforms primarily must be engineered to satisfy the needs and priorities of Americans, not immigrants.

Mexico, Shut Up! That country is so messed up and they want to tell us how to run a prosperous nation?
Co-Dependents are always the first to complain, when the enablers stop enabling.

They won't be happy until they lower our standard of living to theirs and then we will still be expected to pay.
All they have gotten out of the American people with no help from their wealthy elites and they are still the most ungrateful bunch of people I have ever seen.
In this Bill if these illegals are rejected for citizenship even criminals in our jails, the people of the United States must pay for them a lawyer, Is this not unbelieveable
Atricle 413 requires American to help with their health care , Education and it just goes on. OH and thats in Mexico not here, And thats only 2 pages of this outrages legislation. Can't wait to see more NAU in there.
And Mexico is complaining!!Please support ALIPAC's fight to save American Jobs & Lives from illegal immigration by joining our free Activists E-Mail Alerts (CLICK HERE)
