The controversial Arizona immigration law has found its way into the halls of the N.C. General Assembly.

A proposed Senate resolution makes North Carolina the 18th state to consider a law that would require everyone to carry immigration documents and enable law enforcement to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally.

N.C. Sen. Don East, R-Alleghany, has introduced Senate Resolution 1349, asking for a law similar to that of Arizona Senate Bill 1070 to be considered during the legislative short session.

Although it would require a waiver for the bill to be considered this summer, opponents and advocates of the Arizona law are getting in gear to put up a fight.

“We’ve been sending messages to state legislators asking them to stand up and follow Arizona’s lead to help fight illegal immigration here,â€

Dani Martinez-Moore, coordinator for the Network of Immigrant Advocates at the N.C. Justice Center, said federal comprehensive immigration reform is what’s needed, not policy changes from Raleigh.
We need whatever it will take to get these illegals out of this country and now! enough of the GAMES these groups (as well as our own government) PLAY...

Yeppers, I used to live in NC. Illegal aliens were all over the place to the point where the city attorney advised me to shop at Wal-Mart at 2 AM to avoid them, like he had to!!! I hope they take this law and run with it because it is sorely needed. Good luck, NC!!

They sure are all over they place, working construction and landscaping jobs everywhere you look, and their anchor babies are really starting to flood the elementary schools. Ready to do whatever it takes to get 'em out of here!

I've lived here most of my life but I can't ever remember things being so bad. Our state and federal government give these people everything.

You can't find a job anymore because of illegals and the ones you are lucky to find have lowered wages, benefits, etc.

They need to go. To many traitors and sell outs in office

I HAVE ALSO LIVED HERE ALL OF MY LIFE AND I NEVER SAW MEXICANS IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS UNLESS I WENT TO HENDERSONVILLE. THEY WORK PICKING APPLES DURING THE FALL HARVEST. BUT WHEN I STATRED SEEING THEM IN THE CITY WHERE I LIVE, I HONESTLY THOUGHT THEY HAD JUST OPENED THE BORDER FOR THEM TO JUST COME ON IN. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE BORDER WAS AND IS OPEN, BUT THEY CAME HERE ILLEGALLY. WE THE PEOPLE MIGHT AS WELL FORGET ABOUT GETTING A JOB BECAUSE, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES GETTING HIRED THESE DAYS. ITS PAST TIME FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS TO BE SENT HOME AND ITS ALSO TIME TO GIVE BACK THE JOBS BEING HELD BY ILLEGAL ALIENS, BACK TO AMERICAN CITIZENS
