Immigration From A Border Patrolman’s Holster: Part 1

Editorial/Op-Ed

by Frosty Wooldridge

LOUISVILLE, COLORADO -- (OfficialWire) -- 07/25/05 -- Most Americans have no idea how fast an invasion of illegal aliens advances across our borders daily. They read about California’s crisis, but it’s so far away, they can’t be bothered. Nonetheless, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, illegal immigration dribbles into our country at a rate of four people per minute. It’s slithering into Florida like a water snake. It’s raiding Texas like a raccoon hitting garbage cans. It’s infesting the deserts of New Mexico with tons of trash and human waste. It’s overwhelming Arizona like desert rats. How do you think 20 million illegal aliens arrived? On Carnival Cruise Lines?

Below is the beginning of a two part series with a veteran Border Patrol officer with over 30 years on the force. John W. Slagle, Special Agent, U.S.B.P (retired), offers an up close and ugly view of this silent invasion. Sometimes, as with fire fights, not so silent! As an American who cares about his country, he’s still patrolling the desert.

“John, I said. “Give readers an idea of the magnitude of this crisis.

“On 3/16/2004, I met with video photographer Joseph Mathew from New York City at the Diamond Bell Ranch near Three Points, Arizona, Slagle said. “On 3/14/2004, Mr. Mathew had videotaped over 120 illegal aliens that had crossed the U.S. Border east of Sasabe in the Fresnal Canyons. The line of travel would have taken the group to many load-up areas at Arivaca, a remote town 12 miles north of the international boundary. Narcotics as well as human trafficking organizations freely use the territory surrounding Arivaca as natural staging sites.

“What kind of numbers are we talking about? I asked. “How fast are they coming into our country illegally? It’s been said the Border Patrol catches only one in five.

“The U.S. Border Patrol made 8,041 apprehensions in Arivaca and Amado and seized 14,854 pounds of marijuana from January 1 to February 23, 2004, Slagle said. “Armed encounters with narcotics smugglers have been an on-going law enforcement problem since 1989 when traffic briefly ceased with military support on the Borders. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act provided both ground troops and air support for the U.S. Border Patrol at that time period. National Guard Helicopters were able to quickly locate smuggler's vehicles crossing into the United States with Forward Looking Infrared Radar and military technology which was very effective. A lone Border Patrol Agent that had an armed squad of U.S. Marines as a back up in Arivaca and Fresnal Canyon made national headlines. Armed mounted horsemen with a pack train carrying 600 pounds of narcotics fired at our Agent after being challenged to stop. The U.S. Marines returned fire, which ended the situation quickly. The word was passed in Mexico that the U.S. Military was defending the Borders and armed smugglers who fired at Agents would face lethal rules of engagement. There was peace for a short time.

“So why does this incursion keep happening? I asked.

“Through the years, the Border Patrol and Pima County Deputies have tried to control the area and have seized tons of narcotics, arrested many armed smugglers and have been shot at and assaulted, Slagle said. “In 2004, little has changed in Arivaca or the rugged terrain of the remote canyons. Radio communication without an aircraft to relay is strictly line of sight operations. A lone agent can be assaulted or killed by smugglers and response time to try and locate a missing officer can take many hours. Gunny McCann, who accompanied the video photographer in Fresnal Canyon almost died in the same area a few years prior to retirement. No radio communication, out of water, eight miles in a desert canyon on foot and injured is a situation that is critical. The former Marine Gunnery Sergeant owes his life to a partner, Chevon, who would not give up the search and called for a helicopter. The Gunny used a signal mirror and whistle to alert the Border Patrol chopper. A large stash of narcotics and several loaded rifles and shotguns were recovered.

“What makes this area so vulnerable for smuggling drugs and human cargo? I asked.

“Smuggling and the remote canyons which are hard to control is a problem for all border enforcement officers and the rural residents who live there, Slagle said. “Smugglers tear down fences to transport narcotics across their property, and the amount of trash left by both Human Trafficking Cadres and Horse Trains is similar to a trash dump, which stretches for miles.

“What are some of the problems American citizens in the area suffer? I asked.

“Citizens traveling in vehicles are often "run" off the road at any hour of the night by smugglers with cargoes of illegal aliens or contraband drugs, Slagle said. “The U.S. Border Patrol regularly patrols the area with agents using night-vision scopes at notorious crossing points.

“How well prepared are coyotes and drug smugglers? I asked.

“The problem lies with the fact that narcotics smugglers also have state-of-the-art night vision devices and satellite communications, Slagle said. “They also have enough people as scouts on remote canyon peaks to establish intelligence from the Border to pickup areas. They track the movements of law enforcement in vehicles and in the brush. The amount of money narcotics organizations can spend for manpower and equipment does not rely on handouts and budget cuts from Congress. If weapons, radio equipment or vehicles are seized, they pay cash for replacements. The same situation exists with human trafficking organizations. When vehicles are seized, drug organizations buy more for transportation and the money made is equal to narcotics with less risk of long prison sentences if apprehended.

The sobering reality of Part I of this series is: Border Patrol agents are so under-funded and out gunned--they catch only one in four illegal aliens. Even more sobering is the fact that your tax dollars exceed $80 billion annually for the ‘War On Drugs’. But as quickly as a drug smuggling ring is busted or a smuggler killed, he is replaced within hours. Your kids can buy drugs on the streets as easily today as buying a candy bar at the local 7-11.

What is driving this people invasion? As to the illegal aliens pouring across our borders, major corporations and other companies offer illegal aliens jobs. Those corporations break every law in the books including RICO, USC 8: 1325, as well as IRS laws. The IRS loses $400 billion annually in uncollected taxes from illegal aliens working off the books. For every illegal alien employed, you pay for their kids in your schools, loss of tax base dollars, loss of jobs, suppression of wages, medical care, welfare, exposure to diseases and language classes.

From the narcotics standpoint, this nation’s voracious appetite for drugs knows no end. Estimates exceed over $128 billion in hard currency fly out of our country to pay for drugs annually. As long as dealers can make a buck on our kids or addicts, the ‘War On Drugs’ is a public relations poster with little relevance.

From this interview, it is apparent that troops on the border effectively stopped illegal drugs and people smuggling in 1989. The April, 2005 Minute Man Project illustrated that a few civilian Americans for one month stopped the 4,000 illegals from crossing nightly in the Arizona sector alone. Is anyone wondering why we haven’t re-implemented troops on the Mexican border? Why not? When? What are we waiting for? How come Iraq receives American border troops to stop terrorists from crossing, but not our own troops on our own borders where terrorists are crossing?

For Americans who want to read how desperate the Border Patrol is and how much it is failing, I recommend reading John W. Slagle’s book, ‘ILLEGAL ENTRIES’ at www.authorhouse.com. It is better that you know how severe this crisis is than continuing blissfully along in dangerous ignorance.

Editorial/Op-Ed: Third World Momentum Growing In United States

by Frosty Wooldridge

LOUISVILLE, COLORADO -- (OfficialWire) -- 07/25/05 -- Third World corruption overwhelms any chance for a balanced or civil society. Mexico stands as an excellent example of ‘el Grande’ corruption. In John W. Slagle’s book, ‘ILLEGAL ENTRIES’, every aspect of Mexican life suffers from corruption. It’s rampant at the lowest levels of society. Mailmen take bribes to ensure patrons receive their mail. If citizens don’t pay, no mail is delivered. Thievery is a given. Patrons are robbed while eating a meal at a restaurant!

Unfortunately, Third World corruption pours into the United States like accelerating speeds at the Daytona 500. It’s worse than quickie marriages at the ‘Elvis Presley Chapel’ in Las Vegas.

“Marriage fraud is also a big problem in the United States, Slagle said. “Thousands of illegals will marry a US citizen for a green card. One well traveled US citizen female had been married and divorced 37 times in one year to illegal aliens in a conspiracy with 20 other ladies. All had an equally formidable list of spouses who paid an average of $3,500.00 each for marriage certificates.

Like a metastasizing cancer, illegal migration into the United States grew at break neck speeds in the 1990s. According to Time Magazine, three million a year illegally jump America’s fences from Canada and Mexico. The numbers indicated a growing crisis of human misery in home countries. Civic Hispanic groups such as MALDf, La Raza AND LULAC grow in power and protest enforcement of immigration laws in communities across the USA. If a BICE agent arrests illegals within five blocks of a church or school, Hispanics erupt from the woodwork exclaiming the aliens were, “Dragged from the school or apprehended while praying.

This illustrates ‘ethnic enclaving’ or ‘ethnic sympathy’ that circumvents law and order.

It’s happening all over America as illegals, which have no investment in America, other than colonizing jobs and making money--grow in sheer numbers.

Worse, US politicians pander to illegals. Voter registration forges into illegal registration for hundreds of thousands of illegals. Their numbers dictate elections even though they are illegal. It’s an example of Third World Momentum escalating at the foundation of democracy. “Politics and the Immigration Service are forever intermingled and it doesn’t matter which party is in power, Slagle said.

Slagle notes complete disregard of Congress concerning enforcement. Illegals could ‘jump the line’ ahead of legal immigrants who waited for years to immigrate. Once illegals ‘make it’, they enjoy the fruits of their crime, i.e., free schooling for their kids K-12, medical services, housing assistance, food stamps, impunity with sanctuary cities and under-the-table jobs where they pay no income taxes. These crimes are all at the expense of American taxpayers.

But what this invasion instigates is an increase of illegal aliens from Middle Eastern countries as well as other regions that support terrorism. If we think that Mexico is a friend and neighbor to our country, like ‘NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH’ in most of our communities, think again! “Illegal aliens from Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iran used the Mexican embassy in those countries as a gateway into the United States, Slagle said. “Valid Mexican entry visas for 30 days were purchased at a price up to $5,000.00. Once into Mexico, terrorist hire smugglers for transportation onto US soil.

Do you ever wonder how Third World corruption may affect you? After 34 years of the Drug War and one-half trillion dollars of your taxes spent--drug use and drug availability remain better than before. Any kid in any city in America can score whatever drug and amounts 24/7. “Many drug shipments appear to be escorted or guarded by Mexican authorities, Slagle said. “Narcotics organizations pay millions of dollars in bribes to corrupt Mexican military officers who command ‘anti-drug’ troops along the border as well as police agencies. The ‘mordita’ bribery system in Mexico has never been resolved by Washington, DC or Mexico’s President Fox.

As this invasion escalates, many countries assault America. “The number of illegal Chinese Nationals in the United States has been estimated at over two million and with any population there are criminal organizations from narcotics distribution to money laundering operations, Slagle said. “Gang participation is popular with many violent chapters in larger cities. New York has the Fuk Ching Gang, Three Mountain Association, White Tigers, Green Dragons and Ghost Shadows to name a few.

Also in New York, Russian immigrants have made welfare into an art form. It might be noted that Vancouver, British Columbia has imported so many Chinese, both legally and illegally, into that city that it looks more like Beijing than Canada. Their Indo-Canadian drug gangs and growing power leave Canada at risk of losing any control over its own country as the new immigrants enclave into political power and ‘ethnic sympathy’.

As drug smugglers grew in power and numbers, they were emboldened by non-enforcement. Ironically, NOTHING changed on the border after 9/11. Anyone can ride or walk across the border at any time. Homeland Security’s ‘red alerts’ bring a good laugh by smugglers after a $5,000.00 week and a bottle of Tequila.

Slagle noted that Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument on the Mexican border stands as the most dangerous national park in America. Over 400,000 illegal aliens cross annually. On August 9, 2002, while patrolling the backcountry, Kris Eggle, 28, National Park Ranger was shot by a drug smuggler. The only Congressional representative to attend his funeral service was Tom Tancredo of Colorado. In the meantime, Senators McCain and Kyle along with Representatives Kolbe and Flake of Arizona had been working overtime to give illegal aliens more benefits. McCain and Kennedy’s latest work/amnesty bill is a nightmare for America. While they encouraged illegal aliens by doing nothing before or after 9/11, America not only lost 3,000 innocents, it lost an outstanding young American Park Ranger. What this Congress lost was the American Dream for so many peopleâ€â€
