Immigration: Court cases stall issue for now

    By Devona Walker

The push for immigration reform in Oklahoma and other states is slowing.

Last year, 46 states enacted 194 immigration statutes, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. This year, defeats outnumber successes.

Legislators in Oklahoma and across the nation have either modified or abandoned immigration proposals.

Some speculate the change in direction is related to a more vocal dissent and fear of litigation from the business community. Others say a seriously strained economy has prompted caution.

And with existing statutes in Arizona and Oklahoma in litigation, many lawmakers appear to be holding off until legal hurdles are cleared.

"The political mood has changed to the extent that many of us who supported HB 1804, now we want to step back and see how effective it is, to make sure it works, instead of just tacking on more laws,â€
Immigration reform should reflect a commitment to enforcement, not reward those who blatantly break the rules. - Rep Dan Boren D-Ok

Ok, who wrote this false piece of propaganda? We won in Oregon, we won in Utah, we won in Missouri. Arizona and Georgia continue to pass more enforcement legislation after passing the strongest bills in the nation already and Rhode Island has cracked down by executive fiat soon to be backed up by the legislature.

Someone get me a source on this biased crap and let's see how far and wide it is circulated.

We in Oklahoma are being slung a bunch of pro illegal sob stories on a daily basis. This is what the Chamber of Commerce and the Tulsa World said they are going to do to try to change public opinion on the laws we passed.
Alot of us in Tulsa are posting comments and our anti illegal posts seem to disappear alot from the comment sections. Or after alot of people post anti illegal posts the Tw just stops letting people post. It just shows they are trying to wage a campagne that is pro open border.

These things are probably all part of Mexico's campaign to change American minds about illegal!! We just have to stay on top of it and expose them every chance we get!!
