Immigration Officers Head for New Orleans

(September 5, 2005) - - More than a dozen local immigration officers boarded a bus in Angola overnight to help enforce the law across Louisiana. News 4's Barbara Pinson has more.

It's an important mission for immigration officers who normally protect our border with Canada.

Monday morning, they boarded a bus heading for New Orleans. They're all members of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office here in Western New York.

Once they arrive, they will help offices needing law enforcement assistance.

All 13 of the federal officers will, in fact be sworn in as Louisiana State Police. They're prepared for a long mission.

The bus is filled with tactical gear including ropes, bullet-proof vests and riot gear, because there are countless dangers where they are headed.

Even though they have enough food and water to last them 30 days, the officers are not sure how long they will be serving in Louisiana.

It's a shame they are not going down there to do their job of deporting illegals.

How in the world can President Bush remove the little protection we have on our borders, at any time, but especially at a time when we have terrorists threathening us, and we're at war?

I'm pretty sure that I know why he does these things, but I sincerely cannot understand HOW he is able to pull these things off? Why aren't our elected officals confronting him on things like this, on FEMA aid to illegals, on catering to Vicente Fox instead of the American citizens?
