    Immigration PAC boycotts Miller

PrintEmail Article Tools Page 1 of 2 next > Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee (ALIPAC) has launched a national boycott against Miller Brewing Co. because of the company's support of illegal immigration.

ALIPAC, in collaboration with several other groups that oppose illegal immigration, organized the embargo against Miller and all other subsidiaries within SAB Miller - which includes products such as Miller Lite, ICE House, Miller Genuine Draft and Milwaukee's Best, as well as selling stocks and mutual funds involving the company.

"Buying a Miller product is giving money to illegal immigrants," said William Gheen, president of ALIPAC. "Miller has been exposed giving $30,000 to socialist and communists groups who have marched and fought for changing laws for illegal immigrants. We should enforce the boycott until Miller stops funding illegal immigrants."

Miller has never supported illegal immigration and we have always supported the full enforcement of current U.S. laws, said Miller spokesman Pete Marino.

"We plan to stick to the business of brewing, marketing and selling great beer," Marino said. "Going forward, Miller will closely review all requests for support from community and charitable organizations to ensure that we are not indirectly funding or associating our name with advocacy efforts on the immigration issue."

Gheen said polls have shown, on average, that 80 percent of Americans feel current immigration laws should be enforced, and after hearing how Miller has taken action on something that most Americans take issue with, the company will have to face the consequence.

"The nation needs to make an example out of Miller," Gheen said.

Beatriz Rodriguez, an officer within Texas A&M's immigrant organization Jovenes Inmigrantes Futuro Mejor (JIFM) said that her organization has followed some of the protests like ALIPAC's boycott and finds these groups are not telling the whole story in regard to how important immigrants have become to the business community.
