BOULDER - Monday was the second straight day of demonstrations across the country to support granting legal status to some illegal immigrants. There were also some counter protests.

"It's a sign that this is an important issue," said President Bush, reacting to the number of demonstrations.

In Colorado, about 100 students marched across the University of Colorado campus to show their support for all immigrants and their opposition to some of the proposals in Congress which include making illegal immigration a felony.

"The university benefits from immigration, and it benefits from immigrants and they need to acknowledge that," said Jazmin Chavez.

"It's a fundamental tenant of democracy that if you live in a place and you are subject to those laws, that you should have a say in those laws," said another demonstrator, Scott Wisor.

But author Frosty Wooldridge, who is on the other side of the debate, says his concern is that the country's law is being broken. "The United States of America has a right to its borders and has the right to invite those it wants into this country. He says immigration is an invasion and that these types of protests promote lawlessness.
