Feds arrest reputed Compton drug dealers

COMPTON, Calif. — The FBI says 15 people linked to a Compton street gang have been arrested as the result of a narcotics trafficking probe.

Authorities say nine of the 15 were arrested in raids Wednesday morning in which drugs, weapons and explosives were also seized. The other six were already in custody.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says the arrests by a joint federal, state and local task force follow an investigation launched last year into a reputed methamphetamine distribution ring.

All the arrestees were indicted earlier this year for federal or state crimes, including conspiracy, methamphetamine distribution or being in the country illegally.

Eimiller says four of those arrested were previously deported.
