FBI investigating companies at heart of meltdown

WASHINGTON—The FBI is investigating four major U.S. financial institutions whose collapse helped trigger a $700 billion bailout plan by the Bush administration.
Two law enforcement officials said the FBI is looking at potential fraud by mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., and insurer American International Group Inc.

A senior law enforcement official says the inquiries, still in preliminary stages, will focus on the financial institutions and the individuals that ran them.

Officials say the new inquiries brings the number of corporate lenders under investigation over the last year to 26.

Sure get the public to focus on who is to blame and don't give the Wall street fat cats any bonus, All feel good stuff while they write a blank check
with no strings attached for 700 Billion. Keep your eye on the ball this is your money going to bail out greedy private companies who don't care about the investors, homeowners or the 401ks they wiped out.

Also what about congress and all of the elected officials who were being bought off? including Obama and McCain.

soon as the bail out happens whats to stop the big guys from cashing out and the market dives again and we bail again.

The huge problem is that many of the American public doesn't vote, and if they did, they DON'T understand politics, and politicians don't speak truth much anymore. I am very concerned about the huge numbers of illegals in this country that are voting!
Whatever happened to honest politicians..We used to have a lot of them, and now we have people in Congress with freaking mad cow disease.
