Any major reform action is likely stalled until after the 2008 elections so politicians will have ample time to consider the future of immigration for the country.
The freshly amended bill, which would have granted 12 million illegal aliens amnesty, had been polished by backers to rally dwindling support but Republican opponents and activists clamored loudly enough to overhaul the reform.

It has been many many years since americans have been so involved in any politics. Most of the time we just sit and whine but this time there was action (peaceful and lawabiding). Hopefully now that americans realize what the senate is doing, they will watch the senators more carefully and not just re-elect them for the pork that they bring home. We need to start looking at senators who don't put working americans and legal immigrants first; find ways to health care to the poor; find ways to get training and jobs to the poor and the unempoyed americans; and find a way to fix our education system without doing unfunded mandates.
