The immigration witch hunt must end

The emotional fervor over illegal immigration is reaching the status of the famous Salem witch hunts and the irony is that our law enforcement officials appear willing to circumvent basic human rights to justify the discovery and exporting of illegal immigrants.
Two recent instances, both in Alamance County, illustrate the point.
O.K. We get it. We’ve got a serious problem with people who are undocumented coming into this country. Our federal government has known this problem existed for years and has done little to fix it, primarily because these immigrants are coming here to work in jobs that many of our citizens don’t want, or don’t want to work at the wages being paid. There are now more than 350,000 of these people here illegally in North Carolina. As long as they have jobs, they aren’t going back and we aren’t going to send them back. The business community wouldn’t tolerate it even if we could logistically and financially accomplish such a mass deportation.
We can understand the rationale in deporting undocumented immigrants who commit crimes and are a threat to society. But that is far from what is happening in Alamance. In the latest incident, a librarian, here since childhood, was taken from her job, arrested, taken to court in shackles and is standing trial. Authorities obtained public health records, confidential information, to learn that the woman was using the social security number of a dead person. Because of this revelation her sister, who worked in a local law firm, was also arrested, as were their parents. The librarian is facing jail time. All will likely be deported.
There is also the story of an illegal immigrant stopped at 2 a.m. in the morning, driving without a driver’s license in a car with illegal plates. Whisked away to jail, her three children, ranging in age from fourteen to six, were left alone beside the road for eight hours. Yes she was breaking the law. But do these infractions warrant the risk of danger to innocent children?
We afford thugs in drive-by shootings more rights than we are affording these here illegally.
This is reminiscent of Nazi Germany and Hitler’s reign of terror, only this is Alamance County, North Carolina. It is impossible to believe that we started a revolution on the premise that every person has rights, yet we are eager to deny any rights to people who don’t have a piece of paper saying they are here legally. Every single one of us, with the possible exception of Native American Indians, is an immigrant or descendant of one. I thank God my Scottish ancestors who came in search of a better life didn’t face such hatred.
This has gone too far. It is time that people of all political parties, religious affiliations and racial persuasions cried out for these witch-hunts to end. We should demand that the members of our Congress immediately formulate and pass an immigration policy that is sensible and realistic. It is time for all people to tone down the emotional rhetoric and raise the principles of fairness and respect for human rights, resolving these problems without being hateful and uncaring. We are better people than we are currently demonstrating. Let’s take a stand, but one that is humanitarian and just for all.

Here we go again with the Nazis and Hitler and witch hunts. What an abuse of his freedom of speech, in speaking out in intolerance about the US trying to enforce its own laws in protection of our country. If you respect the laws, you do things legally; if you do things with no consideration or observance of those laws then that is illegal, and you should suffer the appropriate consequences. Isn't there a law somewhere that aiding and abetting an illegal alien even through inciteful speech is a crime?

Tom Campbell's Scottish ancestors most likely came into the United States legally, as did most other foreign nationals who came into this country to make better lives for themselves. They came into this country LEGALLY and BY FOLLOWING IMMIGRATION LAWS. What is so difficult to understand about that?
As for Illegals doing jobs that Americans won't do... that's a crock of chili!
I said this before and I'll say it again:
A while back in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a raid was held at a manufacturing plant there in which about 300 Illegals were arrested and deported. The jobs were quickly filled by many New Bedford citizens, including American citizens from the Portuguese community; who were denied those jobs to begin with because the employer wanted labor they could hire without paying benefits or unemployment insurance fees. It's as plain and simple as that. Employers feel that if they can get away with it, they will.
The Portuguese community there publicly stated that if they had to come into this country legally, learn English and assimilate into the United States, which they gladly did, then why can't the Mexicans? The Portuguese community of New Bedford is absolutely right! The Portuguese people of New Bedford came into this country legally and by the book.
Many American citizens in California who owned their own gardening and landscaping businesses were shoved aside by homeowners who preferred to hire Illegal Aliens.
Americans would take many of the jobs that are filled by Illegal Aliens if they were not passed over by employers in favor of laborers who work on the cheap and who are not required to be covered by benefits or taxes.
What about the high school teenagers and college students who can't find part-time jobs because the Illegal Aliens have taken those jobs which should have gone to American citizens? Does anyone ever think of them?
If the Illegal Immigration situation had not become such a problem over the years, then perhaps the Amnesty of 1986 would have worked... but it didn't. Why didn't it work? Because too many people from south of the border abused the system and now we are inundated with people who not only drain our economy, but who are openly proclaiming to take this country away from Americans. They have proclaimed it over and over in their May Day Marches. They have no desire to become a United States citizen and have even openly proclaimed that as well.
We have to start thinking about the citizens of the United States, about the children of the United States Citizens... and the future generations of United States Citizens.Remember that*all Politicians work for us, the U.S. Taxpaying Citizens.* If they are not doing their jobs to your liking, FIRE THEM in the next elections.

SOME PEOPLE DON'T GET THE OVER POPULATION PROBLEMS, YET.
NC, VA, SC, AND OTHERS DON'T NEED TO BE LIKE TEXAS OR CALIFORNIA;

I know all of this happens imperceptibly and it is the result of individual decisions and individuals making free choices. How does an individual know if he/she should select a career in the service sector-----or develop a manual trade or craft or perhaps a new enterprise? Like other social phenomenons in a free society the decisions are personal and left mainly up to one's judgement. But we can regulate the residual effects of the phenomenon by cracking down on the reliance on illegal immigrant labor."Men of low degree are vanity, Men of high degree are a lie. " David
