Impact Of Immigration Raids On Pork Industry Short Lived, Analysts Say

A panel of pork industry analysts said that while Swift & Co. was hurt by the immigration raids conducted by Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement division in early December, the impact on the pork industry as a whole was extremely short-lived. “It took the industry less than a week to recover“ and return to pre-raid production levels, said Ron Plain, professor of agricultural economics at the University of Missouri.

One week after the raid, production had returned to 424,000 hogs slaughtered on a daily basis, and some plants ran Saturday shifts to even out production.

Swift reports that while production is still down and will remain so for the short-term, the company is back to operating the same shifts it did before the raid.

Yes, if they would enforce our existing immigration laws...everything would be fine.

....and stop throwing decent border patrol agents in prision and taking up for the drug smugglers!

I don't know how this president and many of these congressmen/women sleep at night!
Please help save America for our children and grandchildren... they are counting on us. THEY DESERVE the goodness of AMERICA not to be given to those who are stealing our children's future! ... and a congress who works for THEM!

Yes it just goes to prove that America does not need these illegals to do its jobs. But then we always knew that.

    This website could use improvement

('') It is frustrating to read the comments on this website. For example, to read the comments on an article, one must:

    1) Click "read more" at the bottom of the article.
    2) After the article reloads, click "view comments"
    3) After the article reappears again, one must scroll down to read the comments.

This means one must load the article three times before getting to the comment section, which is a frustrating bore. If the reader wants to read comments on say five articles, that would require clicking and waiting for the page to load 15 times!

A link on the original article directly to the comments would help, or perhaps even load the comments automatically, since there are not huge numbers of comments.
