Indiana cannot deny paternity papers to illegal immigrants, judge rules

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Indiana cannot deny paternity documents for children born in the U.S. just because their parents are illegal immigrants and don't have Social Security numbers, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt's ruling came in a lawsuit filed by parents who said a state policy requiring the numbers violates their children's rights under the 14th Amendment, which recognizes the children as U.S. citizens. Pratt issued a preliminary injunction barring the policy, which began last July.

Why exactly have these illegals not been deported already? Let Mexico issue paternity papers.

I don't like this Judge saying the kids are legal citizens under the 14th. I wonder if someone won't try to use this case later on.

So this means that American citizen parents also do not have to supply SS numbers? OK, let's see how that works.

Exactly. The ruling means no parent has to give their social security number to establish paternity.

This article really makes crap for sense. Assuming the article is unbiased it feels almost as if pro illegal rights groups got the legislation through just to get a ruling in their favor.

Parental rights should have nothing to do with citizenship. Give the child a live birth certificate just w/o establishing citizenship of the child and listing the child as the citizenship of parents. All that would be needed is a second birth certificate form for live birth w/o of a foreigner w/o legal status residency in the US. To get citizenship confered one must present a valid SS number even if they cannot check currently an invalid number has many repricusions from fraudulent filing of state/federal document to a false SS invalidating the citizenship granted by the birth certificate.

All that was needed was legislation about specifying how the 14th amendment doesn't confer citizenship to children of illegal aliens w/o least 1 US parent and establishing a new 2nd birth certificate for children of foreigners w/o legal status in the US.

Looks to me as the wrong people made the bill just to get an easy overturn.
