Almost $1 million in marijuana and cocaine were discovered during inspections at the B&M International Bridge last weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported.

A CBP officer on Friday found 33 packages of marijuana hidden in the paneling of a white 1999 Ford Windstar driven by a 33-year-old Matamoros man. The 66.79 pounds of the drug are valued at $66,790, authorities said.

On Saturday, a green 1995 Nissan Sentra driven by a 32-year-old Matamoros man was found to have 12 packages of cocaine hidden within the driver- and passenger-side compartments. Authorities said the 28.82 pounds of cocaine are valued at $922,240.

CBP officials said the drugs are now in the possession of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
