[UPDATED] Indiana Company Supporting E-Verify System

Inside INdiana Business.com Report

Indiana State Senator Mike Delph (R-Carmel) says he wants business leaders to hear all the facts about e-verify before making any decision about the system.

A key employer in Carroll County is supporting a plan to utilize the e-verify system in Indiana. Indiana Packers Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Gary Jacobson says the system helps the operation in Delphi maintain a stable and legal workforce. Jacobson says his company has been using it to verify the legal status of employees since 1997. Supporters of the system say an illegal immigration bill at the Statehouse includes an e-verify-related safe harbor provision for companies that unknowingly hire an illegal immigrant.
