Two northwest Iowa men will be deported after being sentenced recently on felony identity theft and misdemeanor forgery charges.

Israel Hernandez-Sanchez, 23, of Sibley and Bernardo Vargas-Cazares, 21, of Hull received a suspended five-year sentence for the felony and 60- and 70- day jail terms on two counts each of forgery, Sioux County Attorney Coleman McAllister said. Both served their jail time and received two years of probation.

During a traffic stop in Hull on Dec. 19, the officer arrested Hernandez-Sanchez for having no driver's license. The officer found an Oct. 30 letter from Van Voorst Concrete to Hernandez-Sanchez informing him that the Social Security Administrator told the business that his name and Social Security number didn't match, and the officer suspected identity theft.

Vargas-Cazares was stopped near Van Voorst on Nov. 26 and couldn't show a driver's license, photo identification or proof of insurance. The officer arrested him for having suspended motor vehicle privileges because of unpaid traffic tickets.
