ESTHERVILLE, Iowa -- An Estherville man is being held in jail without bond as he waits to face felony charges for allegedly stabbing his wife and possibly more for lying about his identity.

An Emmett County Jail official said Monday that Florencio Victoriano-Ortigoza of Estherville has been charged with going armed with intent and assault causing willful injury.

Victoriano-Ortigoza, 29, was arrested for the Feb. 4 stabbing of his wife, Jennyfer Rodriguez, 21, according to a police statement issued Monday.

On Feb. 5, were informed Rodriguez was being treated by a stab wound inflicted by her husband, Esteban Escobar.

Estherville police arrested the man Feb. 5 in rural Graettinger, but later learned Esteban Escobar was a fictitious name for Victoriano-Ortigoza.

Victoriano-Ortigoza was being held Monday night on a detainer from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which does not require a bond.

The man's next court date has not been scheduled, but he made his initial appearance Feb. 6 before a magistrate.
