    Spanish translators in NY

Did anyone see on Fox news this morning a report that stated there is a lawsuit in NY City that would MAKE pharmacies have spanish translators??? This is really going too far!!! What about "we're a country of immigrants." If thats the case how did our relatives survive without translators. Furthermore this is one more step in the nanny state. Government being responsible for everything. What happened to personal responsibility??? Unbelievable.

I don't think they can even pass such a law. It would discriminate against other non-English speakers.

Its really hard to believe but all this press coming out of the state on NY may have a dramatic effect on the 2008 election.

I promise thats what I heard. They had two people, lawyers I imagine (I didn't see the beginning of the story) and the lawyer for the hispanics stated that because there are so many spanish speaking people in NY this case could be justified. The other lawyer of course made the same argument we would. Unbelievable.

This is just crazy. I am sure they can find an interpreter to go with them to the pharmacy. Just more wasted dollars that this country does not have to spend on spanish speaking people.

I believe you. The irony is there are already so many people in NY who speak Spanish. They could have walked right outside the door and found plenty of translators, so I don't think that's the purpose of this so-called lawsuit.

I suspect they're looking to make some easy money off this, mark my words.
