Yakima police won't arrest illegal immigrants
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Police Chief San Granato says his officers will not participate in a federal program that grants local police authority to arrest immigration violators.
Granato says it would discourage some people from calling police for help, if they feared they could be deported.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports Granato made his comments this week in a conference call organized by the Law Enforcement Engagement Initiative.

"Granato says it would discourage some people from calling police for help, if they feared they could be deported."
Ya know, I am getting so damn sick of hearing this excuse from official's who are supposed to uphold the law!! Have they ever driven by a WIC office, a food pantry, a free clothing give-away or a welfare office? They sure aren't fearful of marching in our streets or committing crimes on American soil. This lame excuse by some "officer's", that it "discourages" them from "calling police for help" or afraid to report crime is just not believable anymore. DO YOUR DAMN JOB!!!

They don't call the police anyway! This is just an excuse police departments use to excuse themselves from dealing with this issue.
Perhaps there would be fewer crimes committed if illegal invaders were turned over to the feds when identified!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

IMMIGRATION: Yakima police won’t arrest illegal immigrants
Yakima -- Yakima Police Chief Sam Granato and other law enforcement officials urged Congress on Thursday to take up immigration reform and said local police shouldn’t be called on to help enforce immigration laws.
The prospect of deportation already causes illegal immigrants to avoid contact with police.

"Granato on Thursday predicted that any state laws enlarging the local police role in immigration would backfire."
“We would very quickly fill up our jails with illegal immigrants, and where would the real criminals be?â€

In this case, those law enforcement officers should be doing what is best for the majority and that would be getting the illegal aliens out of the community.
Even Americans don't report crimes because they are criminals or are afraid so that's not an excuse to give illegal aliens sanctuary and protected status from law enforcement.

Since when have police officers, public servants who I thought were supposed to remain neutral on matters of politics in their official capacities, been allowed to endorse or condemn national legislation which is unrelated to law enforcement in this way?
Whenever we call for enfocement of our immigration laws by local and state law enforcement, we are told immigration is a "federal matter"; why now are these local officials endorsing legislation which states that federal law enforcement should not be required to do their jobs, either, but that all these law breakers simply should be excused by our Congress whenever enough of them manage to sneak into our country so that everyone begins to notice (beginning in 1986 with IRCA)?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
