Maricopa County Sheriff's Chief Deputy David Hendershott has had his access to official e-mail, his taxpayer-funded car and his phone cut off pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Supervisors want feds on new probe of MCSO

Hendershott remains on medical leave, but following the recommendation of Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office took steps to remove Hendershott from his leadership role while the probe continues.

Babeu is conducting the investigation into Hendershott and two top aides - Deputy Chief Larry Black and Capt. Joel Fox - at the request of Arpaio.

The investigation was launched after Deputy Chief Frank Munnell wrote a 63-page memo that alleged years of unethical and illegal behavior by Hendershott, Fox and Black. The latter two were placed on administrative leave last week.
