Man is found dead with hands severed

JUAREZ - The body of a slain man with his hands chopped off at midforearm was found late Wednesday night at a vacant lot in the El Campanario area of Juárez, Chihuahua state police said.

Ricardo Arturo Alvarado Contreras, 45, had been shot and was atop a blanket with his severed hands over his genitals, police said. Juárez news media reported a note at the scene referred to the man as an extortionist, but investigators would not disclose the contents of a note.

On Monday, a similar note was left on a corpse warning those who collect "quotas" in the name of La Linea drug-trafficking group.
