Judge sets hearing for Ariz.'s new immigration law

A federal judge set a July 15 for hearing arguments about whether she ought to block Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect.

A Phoenix police officer who filed one of the five challenges to the new law had asked U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton to hold a hearing on his preliminary injunction request before the law takes effect July 29.

Lawyers for the state say the challenges should be dismissed because the suits are based on mere speculation that the law will harm people and predict that the law will be found constitutional. The judge will also hear a request by the state to throw out the officer's lawsuit.

In another lawsuit challenging the law, Bolton set similar hearings for July 22.

How can they file a law suit without incurring any damages? Doesn't someone have to be harmed in some way in order to file a lawsuit?

That officer should be shamed out of the force. The argument that it takes the trust of the immagrint community away from police is hogwash, the true fact is they dont want to enforce laws

Any lawman saying illegal aliens are scared to report crimes is a Democrat and party hack. They are also likely trying to get elected under the Dem ticket, in a Democratically controlled county or they are working under a Democratically controlled city council, who controls their jobs and pay.

They are just buttering their bread and you really don't want those kind of men in charge of law and order. They are out for themselves and corrupted by political persuasions.
