SAN DIEGO—Federal jurors in San Diego are considering whether to convict a Mexican man of killing a Border Patrol agent by running him over in a drug-laden Hummer.

A prosecutor said in closing arguments Tuesday that eyewitnesses identified Jesus Navarro as the driver of the vehicle that struck Agent Luis Aguilar in January 2008 in California's Imperial Sand Dunes. He says that account is backed up by confessions made in Mexico and statements of drug smugglers who say they collaborated with Navarro.

Navarro testified during the two-week trial that he wasn't even in the Hummer.

In his closing argument, defense attorney David Bartick questioned the credibility of Navarro's alleged collaborators and the reliability of the witnesses who identified Navarro in a photo lineup.
