U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (07/06/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 10,393 pounds of marijuana and 85.35 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 13 criminal aliens and 9 gang members. There were 4 rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 15.13 pounds of cocaine, a Chevrolet Suburban, and arrested two nationals of Mexico near Odessa, Texas. Agents discovered the cocaine concealed within the vehicle.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,598 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for possession of cocaine and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a .45 caliber handgun and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tombstone, Arizona. The subject was in possession of the handgun and a large knife at the time of arrest. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Arizona for burglary and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 75th Street gang, which is affiliated with the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Centro, California. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions in the state of Nevada for sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16, and open and gross lewdness. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 273 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested a USC near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Agents observed several subjects loading bundles of suspected narcotics into the vehicle near the international border. When agents approached, the vehicle fled the area. The vehicle was subsequently stopped by agents using a controlled tire deflation device, and the marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of California for a lewd act upon a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,612 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,411 pounds of marijuana on the banks of the Rio Grande River near Fronton, Texas. Agents heard a boat approaching the U.S. shoreline and responded to the area. Upon arrival, they observed several subjects carrying bundles of suspected narcotics. The subjects abandoned the bundles and absconded into Mexico. A search of the bundles revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Washington for rape of a child and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for murder issued in the country of Mexico. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,217 pounds of marijuana near Menagers Dam, Arizona. A CBP Office of Air and Marine aircrew observed a group of suspected illegal entrants and agents on the ground responded to the area. The marijuana was discovered at the scene, but the subjects had absconded.

During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Barrio La Habra Monos gang, which is associated with the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Utah for forcible sexual abuse and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Weslaco, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Texas for murder and had been previously removed from the United States.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 70.22 pounds of cocaine, a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the cocaine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Agents received a report that two suspected illegal aliens had attempted to break into a residence. Agents tracked the suspects’ foot sign and arrested the subjects.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,176 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents observed suspicious activity and responded to the area. Upon arrival, they discovered the abandoned marijuana.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Miguel, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual intercourse with a minor and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. The subjects were found stranded in the desert and severely dehydrated. All of the subjects were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Two of the subjects were treated and released into Border Patrol custody, and one was admitted to the hospital.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,915 pounds of marijuana and arrested three nationals of Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. A CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset observed a group of suspected narcotics smugglers and Border Patrol agents responded to the area. Upon arrival, agents encountered the three subjects and the marijuana.
