AHA: Federal Hospital Support Needed for Treating Undocumented Patients

The American Hospital Association urged President Barack Obama in a letter to ensure hospitals receive federal aid to care for undocumented patients.

Section 1011 of the Medicare Modernization Act provided some financial help to hospitals that provide uncompensated care to undocumented patients but expired in 2008. Now, hospitals have to deal with the financial responsibilities of providing services to illegal immigrants, many of which are unable to pay for their care.

AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock said that "Section 1011 played a critical role in helping to stabilize the safety net provided by hospitals and preserve access to care."

This is one example of how illegal aliens DO get free health care in this country and DO get it paid for by U.S. tax-payers, even though their accomplices try to deny it.

They should be urging (demanding) Obama give federal aid in getting the sick illegals deported to their own countries to be taken care of!

Undocumented my a.... . They have more documents, stolen and forged, than Carter has Little Liver Pills... (old time laxative I think). Such an inapt word.

Now, hospitals have to deal with the financial responsibilities of providing services to illegal immigrants, many of which are unable to pay for their care.

This is misleading. Hospitals only have to provide emergency care and the federal government will slowly reimburse them. Hospitals do not have to provide unsubsidized care to illegal aliens and they can require money up front for non-emergency proceedures.

Hospitals should stop asking us for money and change their policies, if they can't deal with the financial burden of caring for illegal aliens.

We need to stop ALL medical including ER and especially maternity care for anyone who is undocumented. There is NO reason that Legal Americans should be paying for these illegals who are in fact CRIMINALS, to receive any form of medical care. Go back to your homeland and see if they will treat you for free. While you are there....stay there...don't come back and be sure to take your family with you.

Of course illegals get free medical care-jut go to any tax-payer supported prenatal clinic in the country and it will be filled with non English speaking illegals.

I know for a fact that illegals get medicaid,see it every day! Our tax payer $$ even pay for fertility drugs for illegals! SEE IT DAILY!
