The Kellogg Foundation is Paying Illegal Aliens $500 Monthly in Universal Basic Income
Jose Nino | Feb 15, 2022
The Kellogg Foundation is bankrolling a global basic income (GBI) pilot program in New Mexico that would dole out $500 monthly payments to 330 illegal aliens in 13 counties.
This program is called the New Mexico Immigrant Global Basic Income Project and is being spearheaded by The New Mexico Economic Relief Working Group (ERWG). The ERWG is composed of groups such as Somos Un Pueblo Unido, El Centro de Igualdad y Derechos, NM Voices for Children, NM CAFé and Partnership for Community Action.
The New Mexico ERWG has teamed up with a non-profit, UpTogether, to dole out monthly payments to families who qualify for this handout starting in March.
The coalition boasts that the New Mexico Immigrant GBI Project will be the first project of its kind in the Land of Enchantment.
These payments will be disbursed through direct deposit or prepaid cards and there are no conditions on what the funds can be used for.
As Noah Arnold of VDARE noted, “Radical leftist causes are nothing new for the Kellogg Foundation.” Over the past few years, the foundation has cut checks to Black Lives Matter, Soros’s Open Society Foundation, and other organizations.
Johana Bencomo, a city councilor in Las Cruces, has been calling for the city to carry out a pilot GBI program at the local level that use Wuhan virus pandemic funding that’s coming from the federal level.
“I believe that poverty is a policy choice,” Bencomo declared last June when she started pushing for the GBI at a city council meeting.
One thing that Arnold noted is that “Similar universal basic income (UBI) pilot programs have been tried in countries like Canada and Finland—they failed miserably.”
However, Amber Walling, executive director of New Mexico Voices for Children, believes “These programs create stability for families, which allows them to plan for the future and pursue better employment opportunities.”
Regardless of the economic viability of the UBI, it’s alarming that elected officials are putting forward programs that privilege illegal alien invaders and foreigners over that of Americans.
It’s up to national populists to demonstrate that these programs represent the highest form of treason and must be categorically rejected. Not standing against these programs will only embolden the Left, who will continue to push for even larger entitlement programs.
