SEATTLE (AP) - A 41-year-old man pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Seattle to conspiracy to commit immigration fraud.

Mahoney operated Mahoney and Associates, an immigration consulting business in Kent.

He faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 21 by Judge John Coughenour.

Mahoney admits he filed up to 99 false immigration documents seeking legal status based on asylum claims from October 1998 through June 2007.

He was paid between $1,000 and $4,000 for each of the falsified applications.

His ex-wife, Helen Mahoney, is a co-defendant in the case and is scheduled for a plea hearing later this week.
